I'm always fond of children shows and cartoons. Before this, I just genuinely and purely love them for the messages and all, but lately as I come to this age (hahaha what's this exclaiming that I'm exactly old or something? Okay sorry) I'm kinda surveying which cartoons and shows that are actually good and helps in educating young minds. For my future kids, see. Lol.
And I came across this cartoon named Dibo The Gift Dragon. It's really cute and the concept of the cartoon is so cool. All the creatures and plants in Cosy Land are made of wool/felt material, and you can see the stitches in everything. So Etsy-ish kinda cartoon. Pretty and artsy. And the main story is there's this dragon named Dibo who can grant his friends' wishes by a magic phrase 'Diding Boding Dibo Dibo Ding' and the gifts will come out of the dragon's tummy (which has a zipper on it.) And the song is quite catchy too. Lemme share the song witchu.
"Hello, hello, my name's Dibo
Here is something you should know
When you want just say this
Diding Boding Dibo Dibo Ding"
Catchy right? It also came with these dance moves. Lol.
But when I'm watching this, I'm kinda afraid of showing the cartoon to any toddler I know. I mean, we Muslims should always know that we have Allah The Almighty to rely on. And to ask for anything. Not some witty dragon with a catch phrase and a zippered belly.
And that concept should be taught first to these innocent minds. That they'll always have Allah. Even though when they have nothing nor anyone with them.
I wish some people could make a similar high quality cartoon like Dibo, to teach these young caliphs about this very core. Of course Allah can't be portrayed. But the educational message can be the major core concept. Actually not only for kids. But us adults too, who had might forgotten our purpose of being sent here on this Earth.
We had this explorace thingy with the muslimah sisters earlier, and there's one game which had you to pass a pingpong ball to your team mates using a plastic spoon. And after the game ended, we were asked- did you rely on Allah during the game, or did you rely on your skills and your team mates? Man. That hit me like a lightning. Especially when we just had discussed this particular ayat from surah Ali Imran: 190-191.
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding.
Who remember Allah while standing or sitting or [lying] on their sides and give thought to the creation of the heavens and the earth, [saying], "Our Lord, You did not create this aimlessly; exalted are You [above such a thing]; then protect us from the punishment of the Fire.
We should be reminded of Allah at all times. During whatever situation. Be it you're watching a cartoon or passing pingpong balls to your friends.
Cz He will always be there for us. :)
